Two nights ago, I went with two other people to eat at local-area chain, a pizza / subs / pasta type place. This particular restaurant has a Monday and Tuesday special where you can get a large garden salad, rolls and all you can eat spaghetti for $5.49 (which was only $4.99 until recently). This is a nice deal when you don't feel like cooking.
The other night, all three of us got the spaghetti all you can eat special. Usually, I want more than one plate, but not two plates (it's a pretty good size pile of noodles & sauce). Sometimes we get a plate and then share it, that way we can all have a little more and not waste any. So the other night, when the waitress asked if we wanted to order more, I said, "Just bring one out and we can all have a little of it."
Her response almost sent my head into the table in an effort to relieve the pain of one of the most illogical things I have heard in a long time: "I'm sorry, I can't let you share, I can get in trouble." To which I said: "But we all got the spaghetti." Sure, if only one of us had the all you can eat spaghetti and the others ordered a pizza, I could understand. Still, she repeated, "I know, but you're not allowed to share the spaghetti." Nevermind that this has never been a problem before, not even with the same waitress. If there was some reason besides just not sharing because it can be "cheating" if you share with someone who didn't get the spaghetti, it sure would have gone a long way to help alleviate our frustration. Sadly, no such explanation was offered, leaving me to believe no alternate explanation exists.
Talk about serious issues thinking outside the box. Is it only me or is this "rule" really stupid in cases where everyone in the party had the spaghetti (and shouldn't a reasonable person have been able to figure it out)?
Maybe she got yelled at recently for letting people share or something. Still....a retarded and senseless thing to say.
