BitWise 1.0.4 Beta 1 (or: why is it all about Linux and OS X?)

We are very pleased to have released BitWise 1.0.4 Beta 1 today. While there is nothing revolutionary in this new version, it's another small step of evolution into perfecting BitWise and adding more of the touches that make BitWise so much fun to use. If you want revolution, you'll just have to wait for 1.1.0 next year. :) (Yes, that's a big bomb of a hint with no details. I hope it drives everyone crazy!)

Anyway, one question that we get asked sometimes about new versions is something like, "How come there are always so many changes specific to Linux and OS X and not nearly as many for Windows?" The answer doesn't have to do with making those versions better than any other, they have to do with making them as good as they can be for their platform. Granted, 90%+ of BitWise users use Windows, but the Windows version gets the most development from the wxWidgets team, the most testing from BitWise users worldwide, has a well-known set of expected behaviors and quirks, etc. The Windows version simply doesn't need as many fixes or tweaks.

We want BitWise to be an optimal experience no matter what system you are using. Sometimes it takes a little longer than on Windows, or needs a little more tweaking down the line. If you have any ideas for ways to make BitWise better for your favorite platform (even if it's Windows!), let us know!
