Part 1 of Questions for BitWise users

Posted at December 15, 2004 09:58 AM in BitWise .

We have decided that in order to better serve past, current and future BitWise users, we need to know more about them. To that end, we are in the process of creating a series of surveys. Because we want the surveys to be as complete as possible, we are soliciting information from you, the BitWise users. (And if you're not a BitWise user, you should be!) ;)

At this point, we are only proposing questions and gathering possible responses. In order not to dilute the interest too much, the questions will be presented over a series of daily posts. At the end, we will also want to know what other questions might provide useful information.

What could be some possible choices for the following questions:

1) When you tell others about BitWise, which features do you highlight? (Check all that apply)
2) When you tell others about BitWise, what reactions have you received? (Check all that apply)

Just to be sure everyone is on the same page, here are some possible answers for each:

1) Voice chat; File sharing
2) Everyone I know uses another system; Finally, an encrypted IM!

Lastly, comment approval has been temporarily turned off so your post will show immediately.

1) Encryption; voice chat; whiteboard
2) "Neat!" (then they only use it once); "Nobody uses this!"; "Sweet! Why don't more people use this?" (then they continue to use it)

1: Encryption ; log viewer ; file transfers ; "offline" msesaging ; file sharing ; the possibility to customize almost all features ; macro system ; visual/sound alerts
2: I love MSN ; I don't need to swith to another IM soft ; BitWise doesn't convince me enough ; my contacts won't follow me for using BitWise ; In BitWise, some features are missing (webcam)

I do not use any other messenger program besides Bitwise, except for CQ Phone. My contact and I have never been able to get the voice part of Bitwise running so for that I use CQ. As for file tranfers Bitwise is very good. And for type chat it is on a par with others.

I use the program mainly to converse with others that have my interests. The people that I have told about the program. We swap files back and forth and that's a big thing since there's no limit to the file size and we are directly connected. Some of our scans can get very large making normal IM clients impossible to use.

1) When you tell others about BitWise, which features do you highlight?

1.) Encryption + Speed + Ongoing devolpment

2) When you tell others about BitWise, what reactions have you received?

2.) Everyone I know uses another IM system. Then some say this is great, a encrypted IM and continue to use it.

1) P2P, Encryption, Voice chat, whiteboard, direct connections (same as p2p I suppose)

2) This is awsome, easy and simple looking; All my contacts are on MSN/AIM; There's no webcam feature; nobody wants to switch over or download it (lazy).

1. Easy of use and clean as in no bulkware, file sharing (I always mention resume funtion)and ram/cpu lightness

2."oooh that looks good" They say, then they don't use it also had some questions about webcam and lack of smilies....but personally I like that it doesn't (have smilies)
