This entry is the 4th in a series exploring possible answers for questions on some surveys in development. Because we want the surveys to be as complete as possible, we are soliciting information from you, the BitWise users.
What could be some possible choices for the following questions:
1) Where did you first hear about BitWise?
2) Did you experience any problems with direct connections, and did you view our online help?
Just to be sure everyone is on the same page, here are some possible answers for each:
1) Friend; web site; magazine
2) It worked without any setup; I had to configure my router but the directions were clear; I couldn't figure out the directions for my router
Don't worry if you give the same answers to multiple questions througouh this series: if the same answers come out of different questions, we know that we don't need to ask both!
This is the 2nd to last set of questions, the last set will be posted on Monday. All of the questions raised in this series will probably not end up on the survey; we are still exploring questions and answers at this time.
Thanks in advance!
1) Where did you first hear about BitWise?
I first heard about BitWise from a post on LiveJournal.
2) Did you experience any problems with direct connections, and did you view our online help?
I have a problem at times where I get a message saying I'm not directly connected and my message is going through the server. I didn't view the online help in response to this problem.
1: I first heard about bitwise on betanews.com
2: I've never had connection problems, once the firewall/router are set up, it works good. I've read a big part of the documentation, whitepapers , and almost all the pages of the site. And I often check the forums.
1) I don't remember where I first heard about BW.
2) When my router is configured, everything works great. I read the directions for router configuration on the site.
1) Where did you first hear about BitWise?
On google... while searching for a multiplatform chatroom with voice and whiteboard.
2) Did you experience any problems with direct connections, and did you view our online help?
No problem.
1. Google I think
2. God yes, on early versions I remember setting up a keyboard string so that every 5 minutes it would have something to send to the friend I was sending something to, just to keep the connection between us running... may be it was a one off but it did put us off for a while...
Why did you need to keep the connection running? If it drops, the next time you send a message it will resume. Was there something that gave you the impression it shouldn't drop and/or did you experience problems reconnecting?
my aboved example was some time ago, definately more than a year, possibly two. It was a very large file and we wanted to tranfer it for use that night or something, so it was necessary for it to download/upload constantly (without interuption) in order for it to be done in time.
I don't seem to have the problem anymore, this was way back when we all rode horses and smoked...
