Always do the eas[y][ier] parts first

I've received lots of positive vibes about the change to the web site, along with offers to help. They are all much appreciated, and we'll definitely need all the feedback and testing we can get once we're ready for it!

I suppose a little information about the layout couldn't hurt. :) As indicated previously, it's going to be simpler. The double-layer menu from the current site will be no more. The site's areas will reflect the main reasons to come to our site:

  • Learn more about BitWise [Features]
  • Create an account on BitWise [Sign Up]
  • Download BitWise [Download]
  • Get help with BitWise [Support]
  • Visit the Forums [Forums]
  • Check messages on the site / Administer Professional [Web Services]
Much simpler, don't you think? The beta downloads will be available as a link from the download page, and the beta news will be a link from the beta downloads. Much more logical and much more oriented to what a surfer wants to find.

The Features page will consolidate the data that was previously found in screen shots, the top 25, etc. Translations will be available directly from the download page. Themes and Banners will be moved into the forums (a logical place for them anyway, since they are community-related items).

Believe it or not, quite a lot of it is up--we're saving the hardest parts for last! All of the features pages need to be generated, and there will be a lot of copy writing and screenshot taking for those pages. Also, we're going to integrate the web services inasmuch that they'll no longer be a separate site with a completely different look and feel. All of the documentation also has to be brought over...

But I guess other than that it's in pretty good shape. Surprising, really. :)

Stay tuned!
