wxWidgets
.
The manuscript for the wxWidgets book is due March 1st, and we (OK, Julian mostly) are calmly scrambling to get everything in order. New material is still being added in small doses, and we're getting some great feedback from the other wxWidgets developers who volunteered their time to read through it.
Some other new information for you:
- The book is being published in the Bruce Perens' Open Source Series, which has its own web site: http://www.phptr.com/perens
- The official title is "Cross-Platform GUI Programming with wxWidgets" by Julian Smart and Kevin Hock with Stefan Csomor.
- The cover is currently planned to be the Brooklyn Bridge, which represents spanning platforms. It also was built by the ancestors of Robert Roebling, original architect for the wxGTK port. Think Roebling suspension bridges...
- The forward is by Mitch Kapor, founder of Lotus 1-2-3 and now director of OSAF.
- BitWise is one of the applications featured in the application showcase appendix.
- Based on the prices of the other titles in the series, I'm guessing that the retail price will be about $50.
- The book will definitely be available from Amazon.com and affiliates (such as Amazon UK).
- Last I knew it was scheduled to be released in June.
I'll post again once we have a better idea of the release date and where else it might be available. If nothing else, I'm sure you'll want to go to a bookstore and see a copy for yourself. :)
nice, i will be sure to take a look at it when it comes out. nice project indeed.
