About two and a half weeks ago, I announced in the forums that we were re-evaluating a lot of things, all the way down to BitWise's name. We received a lot of good, interesting and creative name suggestions. In the end, however, we've decided to basically stick with what we have, with tweaks.
BitWise is currently presented as two divergent products, Free BitWise (commonly called BitWise Chat) and Professional BitWise (commonly called BitWise Pro Groups, or BitWise Communications), with two different entrance points to the web site. Further, the web site has many areas which are not obvious to find, and some areas are duplicated (3 download pages!).
Everything is going to be simplified. The web site is going to be reorganized, and BitWise will be presented as one product with different levels. There will be two levels, and potentially a third in the future:
BitWise IM Personal (currently the Free BitWise / BitWise Chat)
BitWise IM Professional (currently the Professional BitWise / BitWise Communications)
BitWise IM Plus (an upgrade to BitWise Personal, not currently available)
The new web site will be a major facelift from the current one and is being developed at a new domain name. Once it is ready, the old site will redirect to the new site, and the new domain name will be the single entrance point to everything BitWise-related.
You should be able to figure out the new domain name. The content is currently protected, but you'll definitely know you've found it.
Don't feel bad, the wait to unveil the new site is agonizing to me too. :)
