The plan for April

Posted at April 6, 2005 10:18 PM in BitWise .

March coding brings April testing (similar to that April rain and May flowers line). The web site is completed inasmuch that all the major elements are now in place. Many updates remain to be made, such as embellishing certain pages, updating various documentation with new features and screenshots, making sure items have been changed consistently, etc. For example, "chat rooms" have been renamed to "conferences" and "Pro Groups" are now "Pro Networks," leading to other changes like Group ID becoming Network ID, etc. Every instance of the old term must be changed.

The client is nearly ready for 1.0.4 Beta 3. The changes to be included in this version were carefully considered and those making the cut have mostly been implemented. Any significant bugs have been addressed and fixed. Like for the web site, wordings had to be updated, which took some effort.

Friday, the new web site will be made public, with the password removed. The old site will continue to be the "main" site during a testing period for the new site. We will post a link to the new site on the old site as an announcement. Next Monday, Beta 3 will be released. The rest of this month will be dedicated to squashing any remaining (or new) bugs found in 1.0.4 Beta 3, and polishing up the web site according to this generously long to-do list (and fixing any glitches on the site).

If all goes well, by May 1st BitWise 1.0.4 will be the current version, and the new web site will supplant the old web site completely. Redirects will whisk people from the old site to the new. We are very excited about the new site and the new client, and know that another new major era will begin for BitWise.
