What a week! Between the now-finished book proofreading, the computer rebuild, and some personal matters, the BitWise 1.0.5 Beta release obviously didn't happen this week. However, I'm now motivated to get it out on May 31st, so that's the new plan.
The newest wrinkle in the computer rebuild that may or may not yet be resolved is the semi-frequent random lockups in Windows. :( I'm hoping that my latest effort, locating a newer driver for the onboard Highpoint controller (which I'm using as a regular ATA controller), will fix the problem; the release notes did indicate something like "fixed compatibility with 66M PCI bus" so maybe that will do the trick. In any event, almost everything is set up (I haven't found the motivation to plow through my many unsorted bookmarks), and I even was able to get Windows and Linux sharing the same Thunderbird mail folder! Sadly, the sound issue remains...
Anyway, I'm quite excited to get 1.0.5 Beta released and get some feedback on the new icons. I still think BitWise is 50% better overall just from the new icons; the makeover really is remarkable! Some bug fixes and minor enhancements round out the small-but-exciting 1.0.5 changes. :)
I hope everyone has a great weekend, and for those of you in the US, enjoy your Memorial Day holiday!
