In my April 23rd post, I talked about some of the changes for 1.0.5, centering mostly around the icons used in BitWise. A recent comment in the user surveys said something to the effect of, "The icons look like Windows 3.1 and need to be updated." Sadly, it is true, but everything is about to change. After releasing 1.0.4 last week, I was eager to see what kind of difference some newer icons could make for BitWise, and I am delighted report that the new icons (in the same style as those being used on the new site) make BitWise feel like an entirely new program. All the same great features and functionality, but in a much better-looking package!
I would like to release 1.0.5 very soon on the heels of 1.0.4, because as much as I hate to admit it, looks do matter. Maybe by next week it will be time already for a beta, after giving us a chance to test the new icons more as well as work in a few fixes for bugs found in the 1.0.4 release (I know this is scandalous to some of you who have never experienced any bugs with BitWise!). Sometime before then, I'll post screenshots. :)
In other news, the final proofs of some of the wxWidgets book chapters started rolling in, so I'll also be making this last rally to perfect the book. It's really exciting finally to see it in "camera-ready" form--it actually looks like a real book instead of just being a really long Word document.
Lastly, I'm pumped to say that it is now only 10 days until the much-anticipated Star Wars Episode 3 arrives. On that day, see it I must. Let me down, you will not, George!
