Successes and (mostly) good news

A smattering of good news tidbits:
- Still so far so good with not locking up in Windows since Friday's driver update. Knock on wood.
- It is wonderful to be able to log in to Windows in 10 seconds instead of 15-20 minutes. (This is after Windows boots and shows the login window.)
- I got the rear speakers working in Linux. Took me long enough to find the "New DSP (EXPERIMENTAL)" support in the kernel configuration. It seems even more odd that I didn't stumble on this gem in many, many Google searches... maybe Google is deficient. ;)
- Sharing mail folders, an address book, bookmarks, BitWise source and other documents, and mp3s seamlessly between Windows and Linux kicks some serious butt.
- I found a local Barnes & Noble that carries the QT book in the same series as the wxWidgets book. Maybe this means that the wxWidgets book will be carried in retail stores! :) That would be great, the only official outlet Prentice Hall had told us about so far is Amazon.
- Everything is on schedule for the BitWise 1.0.5 beta release tomorrow. I'd be inclined to recycle June 12th for the 1.0.5 release, celebrating the release of 0.1.6.2 three years ago, but that's a Sunday.
The only rain on my parade is getting xv support going in Linux. There seems to be an issue with the Matrox drivers and busmastering. Matrox has an online support forum; I've started a thread there and am optimistic.
Another exciting week. Start your browsers, I'll see you on the download page tomorrow!

Sharing things with Firefox and Thunderbird is easy, either just use a FAT32 partition and share the data folder, or use symlinks (which is what I did for the bookmark file). Hopefully the other items aren't so mysterious knowing I share a FAT32 partition. :)
