This weekend was a wonderful combination of my birthday on Saturday and the Fourth of July on Monday. I know that this is going to come as a huge shock from the owner of a small business, but I actually did almost nothing business-y the entire 3-day weekend. I think I did about 30 minutes of "work" responding to emails and forum postings, that was it! Using really backwards logic, that's a huge accomplishment for me! Yay for accomplishing nothing!
I was reflecting last night as I watched the local fireworks display that I feel very fortunate to be able to pursue my dreams the way I have been able to do. (Not that it's anything unique to being in the USA, of course.) It just was a nice moment to take in what it means to be realizing my dream of starting a business, and becoming involved in things much larger than myself, like wxWidgets and the wxWidgets book. I never imagined anything like that happening, but I'm definitely glad that it did!
I'll spare you the "follow your dreams" cliche. Instead, I'll give you this advice from the great Qui-Gon: "Be mindful of the living Force."
