Well, here it is, another year older and another year wiser. Last year, someone out there must have thought I wanted a DOS attack for my birthday (remember this?). Fortunately, this year, someone figured out that I would much rather have a book published. With an upgrade like that, what's due for next year? A private jet? :)
Here's the final scoop on the availability of Cross-Platform GUI Programming with wxWidgets. The book is scheduled to be delivered to the warehouse from the printer on July 8th. From there, the book will be shipped through the distribution channels to bookstores, sellers' warehouses, etc. According to the editor, it will take approximately two weeks before the book is widely available. I would imagine that Amazon will be able to send out orders pretty quickly once they start receiving shipments of the book from the publisher. I don't know about you, but I definitely can't wait to get a copy and hold it in my hands!
Speaking of books, there's another book I can't wait to get--Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Just like when Order of the Phoenix came out, I'm asking for it for my birthday even though it is/was not out on the day of my birthday. I hope to get a little certificate or something from someone saying they'll bring a copy on July 16th. Maybe it's weird that the things I'm most excited about at my birthday are two books, and not some cool new computer part(s), but I tell myself that what it really shows is that I'm not some hopeless computer geek. ;)
Have a great weekend, and to my US readers, have a great Fourth of July! Whether you agree or not with our current military actions, please keep the troops overseas in your thoughts and, if you're so inclined, your prayers.
