Well, it's turned even cooler here--I actually had on a sweatshirt over a t-shirt today. In August! Of course, back home I'd probably be panting in the sweltering heat and humidity, but it just doesn't feel like summer when you're bundled up like it's winter. It's true: "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco"-- Mark Twain
Sightseeing continues to abound. I certainly have enjoyed being away, and I am reminded why vacations are so important: to rejuvinate you for your "normal" life. I am definitely feeling rejuvinated by the change of pace! Thought, it is getting a bit wearisome, so it's a good thing the LinuxWorld Expo starts on Tuesday. Then I'll just be a nervous wreck getting psyched up for my presentation. ;)
Just for kicks, here's the short list of major attractions visited since my last post: Mission San Francisco de Asis (the oldest church in California and the oldest building in San Francisco), Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill (providing an excellent vantage point of the entire city), Lombard Street (the crookedest street in the world), Chinatown, The Palace of the Legion of Honor (a beautiful setting that houses an art museum), Golden Gate Park, Steiner St. / Alamo Square with the often-photographed Victorian Houses, Haight/Ashbury (with a reptutation of being Hippie-land in the 60s & 70s) and Castro Theater in the Castro District (as well as just seeing the general area).
Some people have compared me to the Energizer Bunny, and I guess that carries over to my vacations too. Sit by the pool and do nothing for days and days? HA! :)
I'll try to write again after my first presentation on Wednesday! Wish me luck.
